Back Cover of the Kel-Lite Manual of Defensive Tactics. It reads: Donald A. Keller, the author of the Manual of Defensive Tactics, is the founder, president and sales manager of Kel-Lite Industries, Inc., in Covina, California. Before entering law enforcement equipment manufacturing, Don spent eight years in the law enforcement field. Seven years were spent with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. His duties included transportation, patrol and two years as a tactical officer and instructor at the Sheriff's Academy. At the Academy he instructed in hand to hand combat, baton and crowd riot control. He also instructed Military Police Units, for Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in defensive tactics. Don received an AA Degree in Police Science from Mt. San Antonio College and holds the Designated Subjects Teaching Credential in Police Science. He teaches defensive tactics and baton at Citrus Jr. College. He is an active member of the Sheriff's Reserve Search and Rescue Team and Mounted Posse. The author holds a second degree black belt in Judo and has had extensive training in Aikido, Karate, Jujitsu and Yawara. Assisting in the photos is Norman C. Nelson. Norm is the Vice President and General Manager of Kel-Lite Industries, Inc. He holds the third degree black belt in Judo and sixth degree black belt in Jujitsu.
